Since my parents are here for the week, the night before my birthday my parents and I went to see Billy Elliot and it was INCREDIBLE. The set design and the dancing was really great, and the entire musical was just so captivating. When I first saw the movie I didn't know anything about the historical background of what was going on in England in the 1980s so this time it was a lot more interesting to watch.

Luckily my birthday fell on a day when most of my friends and I didn't have any classes, and thanks to my wonderful friends here I was really able to have an incredible birthday in London. And what better excuse to experience a truly British afternoon tea than for a birthday? We found a very nice afternoon tea place on Oxford Street that looked out on a beautiful small garden and we had the most delicious scones and cute sandwiches and little desserts. Afternoon tea is such a good idea. Later we walked around Oxford and Regent streets (kind of reminded me a little bit of 5th Ave in Manhattan). Definitely a very busy, crowded, lively area of London! After our day in the city we went to the Notting Hill dorm where I was greeted by a yummy chocolate cake because, once again, my friends here sure know how to plan a great birthday celebration!

too cute. and that pink thing on top (they call those macaroons here - but not like the passover ones!)
was the most heavenly dessert I have ever
had in my entire life. |
